摘要

这篇论文主要探讨马来亚华人在二战前的参政模式。王赓武在1970年提出三种马来亚华人的政治参与模式，堪称典范。随着相关研究成果的累积，新史料的发现及再诠释，本文提出第四种华人政治参与之模式，即：双重政治身份。藉着研究不同类型的政治参与者，本文将以此探讨华人移民社会的政治地位，及在地化的关怀。

Abstract

The purpose of the paper is reviewing the politic participation pattern of the Chinese in British Malaya. In 1970, Wang Gungwu built the paradigm in the studies of Chinese politics in Malaya. He classified the Chinese politic participation in three types. Following by the accumulation of research works, and discovering and reinterpretation of historical sources, the paper will revise the classification pattern of Wang Gungwu. The paper also attempting to bring out the forth pattern: Served both for Chinese and Local British Government. By the studying of the career of the difference types of the Chinese leaders who involved in politics, the paper will probe into the political status of the Chinese immigrant community, and their concerning of the localization.
