A Supplementary Note on Chan Ki Lock and Chan Jam Qua,
the Two Chinese Kapitan of Malacca

摘要

曾其禄与曾应葵，祖籍禾浦（指现今福建厦门曾厝垵），因不愿接受清朝统治的情况下，逃到马六甲避难。在回顾在马六甲青云亭的历史文献过程中，可以发现曾其禄及其儿子曾应葵曾在马六甲定居期间，不仅先后担任马六甲华人甲必丹一职，还对马六甲青云亭的发展贡献良多。至今，马六甲青云亭内仍保存一些与曾其禄及曾应葵两人有关的文献。但是，由于学术界长期面临文献零散的因素，仍未对曾氏父子的生平、故乡等，做出针对性的研究，实为可惜。因此，为了能更有效地梳理曾其禄与其儿子曾应葵的生平事迹，本文先会对曾氏父子相关的文献进行整理，之后再结合在厦门考察的经验，对曾氏父子的故乡进行介绍，以期能更丰富曾氏父子俩的生平事迹。上述所作的整理与分析工作，可以为将来想研究曾其禄与曾应葵时，有更为可靠的依据，以便可以进一步作深入研究。

Abstract

Chan Ki Lock and Chan Jam Qua, the Chinese Kapitan of Malacca who were from Zengcuo’ an Village Siming, Xiamen, Fujian Province, fled to Malacca because they were unwilling to accept the rule of the Qing Dynasty. In reviewing the historical documents of the Cheng Hoon Teng Temple in Malacca, there are still some documents related to Chan Ki Lock and Chan Jam Qua. However, their biographies were briefly mentioned and the study about them was few and not in depth. Therefore, this article will be reviewing the literature related to Chan Ki Lock and Chan Jam Qua which is very vital for the references for the future study. Besides that, the supplementary note will also be based on the field research in Zengcuo’ an Village.
