近现代印尼属西婆罗洲华族社经发展与群体认同的转变

摘要

位于南中国海上的婆罗洲岛，是历史上海上丝網之路的必经之地，华人很早即踏足该岛西部地区，做买卖原是他们前来此地的目的，迟至十八世纪中叶，始转而投入当地的采金事业。淘金致富的美梦及原乡经济的窘迫，迫使华人相继南来，随着移民群体的扩大，也因应外部政经局势的变迁，这个在婆罗洲岛西部聚集、繁育的华族社群之面貌亦随之变化，从早年华族开拓者的异乡成为今日土生华族的故乡。本文拟从历史文本及田野调查采集口述访谈资料，探讨自十八世纪以来西婆罗洲华族社会的政经变迁对其群体认同的影响，以增进吾人对海外华族社会多元化面貌的认识。

Abstract

Borneo had played an important role in the maritime Silk Road trade. From very early days, Chinese people went to the western part of the island for commerce. By the mid-18th century, the Chinese immigrants began to engage in local gold mining ventures. The desire of getting rich through gold mining and economic hardships in their homeland in Mainland China compelled more and more Chinese immigrants to move there. With the expansion of the Chinese population in this region, the Chinese community underwent significant changes. Many Chinese born there started to take West Borneo as their homeland. This article aims to work through historical texts and field research in order to understand the diversity of overseas Chinese society there.
